Beginning the Journey
If you had told me on December 31, 2023, that I would spend most of 2024 making art, building a website, preparing for art shows, entering art fairs, meeting other artists, and writing a blog, I would have thought you were crazy. But here I am, writing a blog and you are reading it. Life is strange and beautiful.
Unlike before, when I mostly sketched daily, I now have meaningful ideas to share. I didn’t realize this on January 1, 2024, while doodling a tentacle around a woman's head. A week later, I had created seven sketches with similar themes. As the month progressed, I began to eagerly anticipate my daily drawings. Ideas flowed freely, with fewer characters, but the tentacle remained, making each sketch tell a story that grew more detailed and freeing.
I thought January 31 would be my last tentacle drawing—a tentacle with a brain floating like a balloon. But that wasn’t the end; I still had more stories to tell. Different stories.
Although I had slowed down to focus on being present for my family, the ideas are still coming. Stay tuned…
